2009 Programme
Ensemble Buxtehude with Director David Gibbs presented three carefully crafted programmes of sumptuous and virtuosic works for various combinations of strings, organ, harpsichord, chorus and solo voices by the giants of 17th and 18th century western European music. Among them the great J S Bach, his contemporary Handel and two French predecessors: Francois Couperin, organist and composer to the Sun King and harpsichord virtuoso, and Marc-Antoine Charpentier, a master of sacred vocal music.
